Ziad Fogo, 35, lives with his family of five in the Nahr al-Bared area, south of Gaza. It is an area in which dozens of poor and marginalized families live. It is bordered by a garbage dump in the south and a cemetery in the north, where diseases spread widely. In addition, the family suffers from difficult living conditions, as it was the family that built the house using unsuitable stones, without a roof from the winter rains, and no electricity or even the most basic of furniture. The features of fatigue and exhaustion are evident on the citizen Ziyad and he expressed his helplessness, saying: “We depend on aid in eating and drinking, and I am not able to provide food for my children, not even meat.” When we asked him about the number of times he ate meat, he replied, “We are We eat fresh meat, except on Eid al-Adha, when charitable organizations offer it to us. As for the rest of the normal year, we eat only chicken wings.”

He explained: “The price of a kilo of fresh meat is 45 shekels, and this is much more than his income per week, so he cannot provide meat for his family.

For her part, the wife stressed the difficult economic conditions, saying: “The situation is very difficult in every aspect, and even the lack of meat has affected our health and the health of my children.”

Despite the compelling circumstances in which the Fogo family lives, they expressed their joy on the feast, saying: “Eid al-Adha is a blessing and good will come to us from good people, and our children are very happy.”

The family expressed their happiness with the meat and thanked the donors, saying: “Thank you to all the donors, and we ask God to accept all of them.”

And in an event that indicates overwhelming happiness, the wife immediately lit a fire to cook meat for her children, and make them happy to eat it.
